How’s Your Health?

Americans are in desperate need of socialized medicine, and have been for decades. Robert Friedman, the author of How’s Your Health? wrote the pamphlet in 1947, and very little has changed in the meantime, and much has gotten worse. Anyone who has the unfortunate experience of a major illness or injury, or that of a friend or family member, knows how difficult accessing quality care is. The “free-market” for-profit health system simply does not work for anyone but those who profit from it.

The Health, Safety, Aging, and Disabled Commission of the PCUSA is dedicated to fighting to provide socialized healthcare through class struggle. We have reprinted How’s Your Health? to show the historical roots of today’s struggle against the commodification of our health. Healthcare should be treated as a human right, not a commodity.
